Tim Woods

Tim Woods

General Counsel

    Timothy Woods is the General Counsel at HighTower. Mr. Woods’ robust expertise in both SEC and FINRA compliance, regulatory issues and enforcement, surveillance and review, legal policy and external counsel coordination is crucial to HighTower’s success as a firm that adheres to the highest industry standards. His nearly 20 years of experience as a financial services attorney and executive-level compliance professional have given him the ability to work collaboratively and effectively within all organization levels. 

    Prior to joining HighTower, Mr. Woods served as the Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Counsel for Navigant Consulting. Mr. Woods has held several leadership positions, including Vice President - Senior Compliance Officer, Risk Officer and Associate General Counsel at ABN AMRO Asset Management, as well as Compliance Officer and Risk Review Manager at Key Bank/McDonald Investments. 

    A member of the Ohio and Illinois Bars, Mr. Woods earned his Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration degree from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in pre-law/economics from Michigan State University. He holds the Series 7, 9, 10, 14, 24, 27, 31, 53, 66, 79 and 99 FINRA registrations.

Matt Harris brings over 7 years of investment analysis and capital market experience to HighTower.  His current focus is capital market analysis, manager search and selection, and intellectual property creation.  Prior to joining HighTower, he worked as a Financial Advisor with a Senior Institutional Consulting wealth management team, which subsequently left Morgan Stanley in the fall of 2008 to join HighTower.  His work within the wealth management team focused on investment analysis, portfolio construction, and asset allocation.
 
Mr. Harris holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities licenses and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation.  Mr. Harris played intercollegiate soccer for both University Nevada‐Las Vegas and San Francisco State University, and graduated from San Francisco State University with a BS degree in Finance.

Colin Healy brings more than 10 years of wealth management and consulting experience to HighTower. Prior to joining Global Investment Solutions, Mr. Healy was a Managing Director and Partner at HighTower with Lyon Wealth Management in San Francisco, CA. Before joining HighTower he spent 7 years at Morgan Stanley as a Senior Consultant and Financial Advisor in the Global Wealth Management division.  

Mr. Healy holds a BS/MBA degree, with honors, in financial analysis and corporate finance from the Jacobs School of Management at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a Certified Investments Management Analyst and a level two candidate for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation. He holds FINRA Series 7,66 & 31 licenses. 
Leann Gaines

Marketing Manager

Leann is a Marketing Manager at HighTower. With nearly a decade of experience in investment management and financial services, Leann specializes in marketing, investor relations and business development.

Leann focuses on providing marketing consultation and growth strategies for more than 35 elite advisory practices throughout the Central, Southeastern and Western regions. She works with teams and advisors to develop custom, comprehensive marketing initiatives—including content, advertising, social media and collateral—to support their businesses’ growth.

Prior to HighTower, Leann served as a Senior Associate of Marketing & Investor Relations at Lizard Investors, where she was responsible for relationship management and the development of multi-faceted marketing strategies. Previously, she also served as a Marketing Associate for GCM Grosvenor, where she supported the capital raising efforts of 11 business development professionals and focused on team efficiencies.

A Fulbright Scholar and former elementary school teacher, Leann holds her Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

In her spare time, Leann is actively involved with the Mikva Challenge Emerging Leaders Board, where she works with local students to encourage them to become active citizens and community leaders.

Leslie Knotts is HighTower’s Head of Platform Adoption. With knowledge in project management, process re-engineering, business management and strategy, Leslie brings over 15 years of experience to HighTower. Prior to joining HighTower, Leslie was a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs and a Vice President at Morgan Stanley.

Leslie leads HighTower’s enterprise strategy for Platform Adoption, to optimize utilization of HighTower technology by the Firm’s advisors. Leslie’s areas of focus include supporting operational efficiency, growth and measuring advisor satisfaction with our platform.

Leslie earned her Baccalaureate of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Bryn Mawr College.  She’s completed postgraduate programs in finance & accounting and finance & strategy at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School and University of Oxford, Said Business School respectively. Leslie has a MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and Political Science and her MBA from the University of Oxford, Said Business School.

Leslie volunteers as an active alumna, supporting recruiting activities at the University of Oxford, Said Business School.  She has served as Treasurer of Bryn Mawr’s Alumnae Association Executive Board and is currently on the President’s Advisory Council at Bryn Mawr College.

Sarah joined HighTower in 2015 with over 17 years of successful experience providing fiscal, strategic and operations leadership to business owners and executives. Prior to joining our team, Sarah was a Managing Director of National Capital Companies and President and Managing Partner of SpeedShift Ventures.

Sarah has earned her reputation as a detail-oriented executive leader who can synthesize complex business challenges to uncover solutions and opportunities for entrepreneurs. Sarah guides clients through a multi-faceted planning process where both financial and business goals are optimized for business transition. Sarah provides every option available to business owners, empowering them to realize the maximum net value of their life’s work. 

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science and Statistics with specialization in Decision Information Systems from the University of Maryland. She’s also completed courses in Executive Management and Innovation Management Program from University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering and Robert H. Smith School of Business.
Sarah and her husband Hamid, welcomed their first child into the world in July 2015 and they happily reside in Bethesda. Sarah has a passion for helping entrepreneurs and enjoys being active in the DMV's startup community. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with friends and family.
